School and Youth Group Visits

Investigations

The DoubleTake: From Monet to Lichtenstein Investigation: Grades 3-6
We strongly encourage all elementary school groups to make the investigation part of their DoubleTake: From Monet to Lichtenstein experience. The DoubleTake: From Monet to Lichtenstein investigation is approximately 45 minutes long, and admission includes a visit to the DoubleTake: From Monet to Lichtenstein exhibition afterward. Please plan for a two-hour visit.

Investigation Description
What do we see when we look at art? This 45-minute exploration of visual art gives students the tools they need to understand and enjoy looking at art. Using hands-on activities and examples from artists in the exhibit, we explore how paintings are made, the artist’s decision-making process, and the basic components of color, texture, and composition. Students will leave the investigation with the ability to formulate and discuss their own conclusions about what they see in the exhibit.
